These groups are designed for teens who are emotionally intense but stable enough to participate in a structured group setting. If your teen is in active crisis, experiencing acute safety concerns, or requires a higher level of care, individual or intensive services may be more appropriate. Screening helps determine the best fit.
Teens are not required to share deeply personal details. Groups are skills focused and structured, not open process groups. Participation can look like listening, practicing tools, and engaging at a comfortable pace. Over time, most teens naturally become more engaged as they feel safer and more confident.
Individual therapy offers personalized support. Skills groups provide structured, repetitive training in emotional regulation, stress management, and communication. Many families find that skills are easier to practice and retain in a consistent group format. Groups can compliment individual therapy but are not a replacement for therapy or higher levels of care.
That's completely normal. Completing the screening form does not guarantee placement. It simply starts the conversation so we can determine whether the group is an appropriate and supportive next step.
